Esophageal Dilation
About Esophageal Dilation
Sometimes due to reflux, hiatal hernia and other disorders there could be narrowing of the esophagus that may need dilation or stretching of the esophagus to help ease the trouble swallowing. Difficulty swallowing is also referred to as dysphagia and is usually a sign of an issue with your throat or esophagus. Esophageal Dilation is performed by the Gastroenterologist using an endoscope. There are various tools such as balloons and bougies that can be used to stretch open the narrow areas of the esophagus.
