Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
This is a test where a Gastroenterologist uses a special instrument called Endoscopic Ultrasound to scan your Gastrointestinal system with ultrasound waves (sound waves). This is a special and very important test to check for diseases of liver, bile ducts and pancreas that present with jaundice such as pancreatic cancers, stomach & esophageal cancers. This technique is also used to obtain tissue biopsies from lymph nodes, pancreas and other internal organs. Oncologists (cancer doctors) do find this technology very helpful and hence work closely with the Gastroenterologist.
